about

We acknowledge the Turrbal and Yugara, as the First Nations owners of the lands on which Foreign Frequencies operates on and that sovereignty has never been ceded. We pay our respects to Elders, past, present and emerging.

FF002: Until Catharsis, marks the second release on Meanjin (Brisbane) based 'Foreign Frequencies'.

The project explores a variety of leftfield sounds dancing between moments of introspection and thoughtful reflection. Naarm based cypha, sets the tone with a lush and emotional track underlined by a poignant melody and hard hitting breaks. The next two tracks from highly talented Meanjin locals Imitation Therapy and Charlie S provide both sample heavy and blissful breaks in the form of ‘Sleep Dealer’, and fast whippy bass through the track ‘Possum 2D’. Cadi based Aura, provides a track including a unique contrast of off-kilter drums to joyous synths throughout its runtime. Montreal artist Boha delivers the most danceable track of the project with the D-floor roller ‘Down to the Bone’.

The EP then culminates in two amazingly grand ventures, the first from French artist Fluid Matter and the last courtesy of Mexico based Chapel. ‘Confessions’ majestically conjures up an emphatic and thematic soundscape. "Wherever You Appear” is the beautifully melancholic yet euphoric closer to the release.

All profits from this release will be donated to The Indigenous Literacy Foundation, an Australian not-for-profit organization that works to address the educational disadvantages faced by Indigenous Australian children and young people by providing access to books and literacy programs.
